AFP testing’s most important usage is in cancer management for testicular based cancer. The elevation of serum AFP is very closely associated with nonseminomatous testicular cancer. When monitoring nonseminomatous testicular cancer, the AFP value is generally measured with hCG. Monitoring AFP clearance after treatment is an indicator of treatment progress.
