Aid in the diagnosis of acute EBV (infectious mononucleosis) and EBV reactivation in conjunction with other serologic tests. The appearance of IgG antibodies to Early antigen-diffuse EA(D) is generally associated with the primary (acute) stage of EBV infection. For most individuals, EA(D) IgG antibodies are transient and are often undetectable after 6 months while VCA IgG antibodies persist indefinitely.
