Fructosamine is a substance created when a type of sugar in the blood, called glucose, binds to other substances called proteins. The fructosamine test is one way to estimate the amount of glucose in the blood of people with diabetes. If you have diabetes, your doctor may order a fructosamine test to get a sense of how well your glucose levels have been managed in the last few weeks.
